ARTS & CULTURE

We continue to build upon our arts and culture division. Currently, this part of the school offering includes a beautiful art expo for Primary School children, a Girls High School fashion show, creative and entertaining plays and music lessons.

The music department began in 2018, with a dedicated music classroom offering students the opportunity to explore music in a way that they might never had had the opportunity to do before. The music room has a wonderful selection of percussion instruments, a drum kit, colourful ukuleles and a state-of-the-art digital keyboard. On a weekly basis, learners take a break from their general studies to enter a world of music. Students learn the various skills in musical performance, theory of music, history of music and general music knowledge. Through play and song, the children learn rhythm and music, enhancing their coordination skills. From as early as Grade 1, children are beginning to learn to read and appreciate music.

Hanna was born and educated in Cape Town and attended Herzlia Constantia, for middle school and high school. Hanna completed a Bachelor of Music degree at UCT in 2008.

After getting married in 2009, her and her husband relocated to Johannesburg.

Hanna has taught music since her move. She teaches private piano and theory lessons at home and KdJam, subject music at King David Linksfield, primary school class music in public and private schools.

In 2018 Hanna introduced a music department to Yeshiva College Primary School where she is currently teaching class music covering a variety of instruments and areas of interest.

Hanna is trained in Classical piano, voice and saxophone and has a passion for musical theatre. She has directed and played the music for a number of school productions in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Hanna lives with her husband and two children in Cheltondale and loves being a part of the Yeshiva College Primary school family. Teaching music in the Jewish community brings her absolute joy and seeing how the children flourish with the new skills gives her endless nachas.
