Avrom Krengel holds many positions within the Jewish community. He is the Honorary President of the South African Zionist Federation and served as its Chairman for 13 years, he is President of Mizrachi South Africa and served as its Chairman for 19 years. He is also the Chairman of the IUA, UCF and the Board of Governors of Yeshiva College.
Avrom has been involved in the South African Jewish Community for 30 years. He was involved with Bnei Akiva, and became its National Chairman.
After High School, Avrom learnt in Israel on a Bnei Akiva programme and stayed a second year to continue his studies at Yeshiva Har Etzion in Gush Etzion. He returned to South Africa to complete a commerce and law degree at Wits University, after which he joined the commercial law firm Edward Nathan in 1994 and was made a partner in 1998. He is presently the Group Legal Counsel for Investec Bank.
Avrom lives in Johannesburg and is married to Michelle, the couple has two sons.
